Both Deceased Students Identified in the Providence Campus Attack as Authorities Press On With Hunt for Gunman.

Two students who lost their lives in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their shooter persisted following the freeing by local law enforcement of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, the group said. The White House press secretary also shared words of sorrow on social media, remarking: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a raid at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “She was famed for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the student's death in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and peers and mourn the loss of his bright future.”
