The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing violence and madness with the same enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, socially charged narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two creators whose projects have represented all of those things.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by featuring a different setting and cast of characters in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their ongoing belief and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the essence of people through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and introduce our mutual unconventional, visionary sensibility to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
